Customer Reviews:

Affordable yet powerful [Posted on 2007-10-07]
I wanted to replace my 5 year old broken tablet and decided to purchase this one due to the brand(Wacom), the funtionality and price. This is a great value and performs as well and in some ways better than my old tablet.
I highly recommend it to any artist, amateur or professional, that is looking for a drawing tablet.

GOOD PAD, BAD PEN, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE [Posted on 2007-11-30]
The director of the design group where I work has used a Wacom pad and pen for years--in fact, he uses it everyday. Till a few months ago, the pen had lasted four years. He recently bought a new Wacom "graphire4" pad/mouse/pen set. He knew that the set had a one-year warranty and didn't think he needed to send in a product registration.

It turns out the new pen started malfunctioning after only a month. The problem is that the rubber grip became loose, and now the openings for the side switches move around and overlap the switches so that they stay depressed. It is ONLY the Wacom pens with the RUBBER GRIP that do this.

When we called Wacom Technical Support to ask if they would send a replacement pen, they told us that their policy permits replacement only if registration has been sent within 30 days of purchase. AT FIRST, THE SUPPORT PERSON RECOMMENDED THAT MY BOSS BUY ANOTHER PEN. After many more minutes on the phone, he (whose name we know but will protect) admitted he was already aware that these pens have this problem. Presumably he is not the only one at Wacom who knows about it. They eventually said they would let my boss ship the defective pen to them for an exchange--BUT ONLY IF HE FAXED THEM HIS CREDIT CARD NUMBER and proof of purchase. Of course, he would not be able to use it in his daily work until he received a new one. Wacom has since made a special allowance for him, though it involves his having to drive a considerable distance to Wacom headquarters, in Vancouver, Washington.

Why they continue to sell these defective pens in their pad/mouse/pen sets is beyond me. If you are considering buying a Wacom pad that includes one of these faulty pens, or the pen by itself, beware.

AWESOME!!!!!!!! [Posted on 2008-07-04]
I've only had this for a few hours but, it's soooo cool! I thought the size was going to be a problem, but it's much bigger than I had expected!
It was very easy to install, and it only took a few minutes to install the included software. All the software works great with no glitches. The pen is very conveniant and easy to use. It works exactly like a pencil, it even has an eraser! The mouse works great! There is a pen stand, but the pen just sits in it, it doesn't click in. Trust me, I was like jamming the thing in and, funny, no click. Anyway, it has two hot buttons at the top of the table, which you can easily program. It also has a scroller, so you can zoom in on pictures, or sroll up or down a page. It comes with a very handy instruction manual. Also, when you take out the included software, DO NOT throw away the little envelope thingy that it comes in. Because, it has all of the serial numbers on it. Trust me, I know about that too! It's not fun digging through the trash. I bought my wacom graphire4 tablet off of ebay, at exactly $60.50. I thought it was a great deal! Well, there's not much more to say about it, just that it's a great product and I HIGHLY recomend it!!

Smaller size is enough [Posted on 2008-09-09]
I purchased this tablet a few years ago and the biggest debate I had in trying to decide which one to order was getting the cheaper 4x6 or the more expensive 6x8. I ended up choosing the smaller one and have not regretted that decision.

My main purpose for the tablet is working with photos in Photoshop and bigger would actually be more of a disadvantage since you would have to move your arm around that much more. When using a mouse your hand can pretty much stay in the same place on your desk but with a tablet you have to move your hand around the size of square you have. So, if you have a smaller square you don't need to move as much.

If your main purpose for using the tablet is for drawing pictures then you would probably want the larger size.

The Wacom tablet has worked great for me. It has been a good purchase and I would definitely recommend it. You just can't get the same control with a mouse when trying to make selections with photos (for example outlining a person to make edits to just that part of the photo).

Works with Windows and Linux [Posted on 2008-11-06]
The Graphire4 works reasonably well for most of my amateur artwork needs. I had some difficulty getting accustomed to having to keep the pen so close to the tablet surface of the tablet so it wouldn't lost track of it. Other than that this wonderful little peripheral works well with my Windows machine and my Linux machine.
