Horrible [Posted on 2004-04-22] This game looks like something for the atari 2600, terrible graphics and gameplay. The game does,nt load correctly to begin with, i contacted strategy First support, of course it was my system(s) thats at fault, thats a 1.9 gig system and a 2.7 gig system, yet, both my machines are to blame, amazing.Anyway, i returned the game, got another one, same problem! Junk. You get a cd key, which you won,t need, by the way, it does,nt ask for it. To cut a long story short, avoid this garbabe.Unless you have $40 to waste. Oh wait till you load the second cd that comes with it, theres a surprise all by itself.
Great WWII RTS with unique gameplay! [Posted on 2004-04-22] This is an excellent RTS game dudes! It seems the other reviewer have not even tryed the game! Check devs' forums, they have an excellent feedback. The campaign mode is very well done, covering all major wwii battles and it's very fun! you can choose Axis or Allied campaign but the real strong point of this game is the multiplayer mode!!! The resources gathering reminds me to classics RTS like firsts C'n'C or Age of Empires! I have arrange games with 6 friends in LAN and guys, this game is crazy!!! tons of units, the airforce is simple fantastic and it have a lot of options for micro management freaks! you can drop paratroopers in enemy base and sweep them from within! I have just started playing online (I still have to work hard to get a good rank in the ladder!) and the action is neverending even with the adition of the Map Editor! Overall, a very well done RTS with resources! Die you Panzers!
Better than I thought for the price I paid! [Posted on 2005-03-02] I've only started playing this game not too long ago, but I find it feels right at home since I am coming from playing too much of StarCraft for too long, yes its an old game(SC), but I still find it very addictive. My point is, if you are familiar with the controls of StarCraft, WarTimes is very similar. If you've never played StarCraft(man, what have you missed?!) before, you really shouldn't have problems adopting the interface and controls. I didn't bother reading the manual, that's how easy it is to pickup, but from flipping thru the pages, the manual LOOKS good, at least much better than another game(Lord Of The Realm 3) I had installed previously and then uninstalled. The Graphics in WarTimes are just OK, could have been better, but I think it serves the game well enough. Tho I've never played AOE or C&C's titles, so I can't compare this game to them, but to me, this game is fun, the special effects are fine, I often consider this an upgrade to the old tired engine of StarCraft since this one is in full 3D, so you can rotate your view points at any angle, and you can also use your mousewheel to zoom in and out the game, this pretty lives up to today's standards. I find it very amusing to control a whole group of tanks attacking the enemy's base and watch them blowing things up, its just spectacular! The same goes to the planes! Well you get the picture. To give this game a 1 star is just not fair, judging from the price I paid for, its almost a complete 5 stars title.
