| Platform: Windows XP Brand: Abacus Binding: CD-ROM Release Date: 2002-01-30
Features: - Warbirds Extreme Warriors in the Sky is designed for Combat Flight Simulator 2 and Flight Simulator 2002. This package is one of the finest collections of fighter planes that you'll find in a single package. Just look at the choices and you'll immediately recognize them as some of the most popular and "deadly" aircraft today. Fly the "unfriendly skies" with the most detailed (and accurate)
Great idea, poor execution... [Posted on 2002-12-07] First off, I have purchased other products from the manufacturer and have been satisfied with the results. However, in this case I was very dissapointed. The flight models are decent and the graphics are very good (make sure you have a powerful video card , processor, and ample RAM). A couple notes, the F-15 flight model didn't quite perform as an F-15 should (max take-off was below what Max thrust is, so it should accelerate vertically...NO DEAL). Also, when I tried to fly the B-2, the avionics suite was missing from the panels. Interesting flying such an advanced simulator aircraft with no instruments (takes VFR flying to whole other level...). This problem in itself did not perturb me too much as I know software often times have glitches, especially on the first roll-out(purchased when the software first came out). What did perturb me was the response of the manufacturer after I spent my hard earned dollars and time on the product and e-mailing for help on the matter. Their response was NOTHING...sorry..no sale..I definitely WOULD NOT recommend this product until they fix the glitches and they fix their customer service "glitches" too.
Great Planes Bad Controles [Posted on 2003-01-22] The planes look great. They are the best renderings of miltary planes that I have seen in a flight sim. They are on par with the rest of the planes that are packaged with the game. However the cockpits .... Hardly any of the guages on the panels are interactive. The panels can't be edited because they are of a file format that the FS2002 editing program can't read. There are no auto pilot controles for the F-15's and F-16's. This makes it hard to hold a course and altitude. On top of that there is no afterburners for these planes. It would have been great if the missles could be fired.
