Pik vs. Floss [Posted on 2008-11-19] After my new dentist badgered me to get a Waterpik, she obviously knew I just wasn't the type to get my big hands in my small mouth with some dumb old string, I finally ordered one. It really has been worth every penny. Even convinced my wife to start using it and some gum problems she has had are starting to go away. We can't understand why her dentist hasn't been bugging her like mine did. About the only complaint I have is it works counterintuitively. I would have thought when you push the button on the hand held head that it would pump but it is the opposite. Turn the switch and you better have it in your mouth ready to go and only push the button when you need to remove the head from your mouth. I've done my share of washing the mirror in our bathroom. Otherwise works super.
Works as expected [Posted on 2008-11-23] This is at least my 3rd Waterpic and each lasts about 4-5 years before breaking. I love using this device and if you really want a clean fresh mouth pour a little mouth wash in with the warm water and you will be happy. My only complaint is a lack of real power. I have my Waterpik set for the max and would like a little extra for power washing my teeth.
I love this product! [Posted on 2008-11-24] I had an old Braun water pic and this Water Pik runs circles around it! My teeth and gums are much healthier and I highly recommend this to everyone.
Does not last long... [Posted on 2008-11-24] I purchased this Waterpik in June '07 and a couple of months later the handle malfunctioned inside so it would leak all the water and therefore it had no cleaning pressure. I contacted the manufacturer and after a couple of weeks they sent me a replacement handle. That worked well up until now (a year later). The handle broke again on the inside where it fits the attachment and can no longer hold it - a small spring came off along with a small plastic part that broke. Anyway, this model is a good concept but must be made of cheap materials so don't expect yours to last too long, look for better options.
Disappointed [Posted on 2008-11-25] As a long time user of Watepik the only problem I have had is quality, so when this new model was introduced I purchased it thinking improvements had been made. It is quieter but everything else lacks the quality I would expect in a new model costing almost $50. Additionally none of the previous attachments fit, so if you have had 1 or more older models you cannot reuse the attachments.
