Great Program for beginners or the pro! [Posted on 2001-04-27] We tried many programs when starting our web site and this was by far one of the best. It is easy to use and it has everything you need. The drop and drag features are great and it has a built in HTML editor. I would recommend this one to anyone wanting to get a web site up and running.
Great for english pages, but could be better for internation [Posted on 2001-05-17] One star has been taken due to the fact that Homepage Builder lacks convenience in supporting international codepages. For some weird reason, the developers limited the program woth latin-only codepage. In addition to it, the international text in the Normal WYSIWYG editing window is scrambled, and there is no option to specify the encoding. Dreamweaver, in contrast, allows to do it, and displays the text correctly. That puzzles me. Otherwise, the product is great, convenient to use, allows a lot of flexibility.
A Powerful Home Page Builder [Posted on 2001-06-16] I am by no means a computer expert, but WebSphere has allowed me to create web pages that can compete with any professionally-built web site. The help program that is included with the disc is helpful, as is the 400+ page User's Guide. I discovered the best way for me to learn the abilities of WebSphere was to just create a test page and try adding everything I could think of to it! This way I was able to see what I could do with this program. I have been using WebSphere for a couple of weeks now, and am becoming very comfortable with it. I found it intimidating at first, but if you have any experience at all with computers and/or the internet, it will come quickly to you. WebSphere includes an animation wizard for text and images, you can create sounds on mouseover, use templates for page backgrounds and setup, and more. I was building pages with layered tables on the second week of use. The drag and drop portion of WebSphere is limited, but I especially like the ability to go directly to the HTML code to make changes when I want to, and I have found I am beginning to understand how the HTML code makes the pages work on a browser. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I strongly recommend it.
