Very Bad Wireless Experience [Posted on 2007-12-29] First the good-the chair is comfortable. Unfortunately, if you get the Evolution for the wireless experience beware. The dongle that transmits to the chair runs on two AAA batteries and feels cheap. I could never get the device to transmit a signal the chair would receive with fresh batteries. I used each of the provided 3 channels and it never made a peep until I connected a sound source directly into the chair. I also noticed my logo on the chair never lit as mentioned in the instruction book. My "Evolution" wants to be wired. Rather than getting a decent FM transmitter, I'm taking the chair back. I got a dud that doesn't perform as advertised.
Great Purchase [Posted on 2008-01-02] We bought 2 of these chairs for Christmas gifts for our sons. The chairs are very comfortable for children and adults. The wireles operation worked great for both chairs. Interface from HIDEF TV with various gaming systems was excellent quality for music but audio voice needs adjusting of controls to hear. Great purchase, I hope they last. I am sure our boys will put them to the test.
Make sure you have a smoke alarm! [Posted on 2008-01-17] We bought this item on clearance at Target for 74.95. We thought this was a great deal until we used it. At first it was playing beautifully. Then after a few minutes we noticed smoke coming from the controls and the battery compartment. Also, when we used the ac adapter there was a loud humming sound. Anyways, we took it back and purchased a wireless pyramat S3500. It is not as comfortable as the wireless x rocker evolution but we will have peace of mind when our children use it and that is priceless!
Wireless X-Rocker Evolution [Posted on 2008-03-29] My husband loves the chair. It is great for him because he has an injured back and it gives him support. I also love it because of the speakers....it is low enough yet he can hear it. I can get some sleep now! When we first received it, one of the armrests was moldy so we had to send it back to the company and they sent us a new one in about a 1 1/2 time. Overall we are very pleased with it.
Great Chair...Bad Wireless [Posted on 2008-03-31] I got this as a Christmas gift and was pleasantly surprised.
It is made of very good quality materials and the chair feels nice & sturdy. The vinyl looks and feels like real leather.
The control panel on the side which holds the removable and rechargable battery is compact and easy to use.
However, the wireless feature leaves much to be desired.
I hooked everything up properly and the sound is just awful.
When playing video games, there is a constant hissing sound that comes through the speakers and there is nothing that can be done about it.
This isn't a mild hissing that you can tune out and ignore. It's quite loud and the only way to lessen it is to turn down the volume which affects your overall gaming experience.
The chair has three wireless "bands" and changing to a different one makes no difference. The hissing just won't go away.
If you plug an MP3 player directly into it, the hissing goes away and the chair sounds amazing! So it's great for just kicking back and listening to your favorite music.
Another slight drawback is that this chair is heavy!
I would guess that it weighs somewhere around 30 lbs or more.
And unlike the official description and the picture on the box, there is no storage compartment.
In closing, this is a fantastic quality chair that's marred only by the bad wireless feature.
