No Power Issues [Posted on 2008-04-28] I've had the GEForce 6200 installed in my PC for approx 7 weeks and have had no issues with it. I have a Compaq EVO 2.4ghz machine with only a 240watt power supply. The specs say you need a 300w power supply but that does not seem to be the case. I'm using two Dell 19" flat screens with it and have been very pleased with the image quality and sharpness. I'm sure from what I read there are better cards available but for an older system such as mine I would reccommend this card to anyone. At least anyone that just needs a dual card for business purposes. I am not using it for gaming at all.
Works Fine [Posted on 2008-04-29] I bought this card to use in my home-made OTA (over-the-air) DVR. I needed the half-height card and it worked fine. I'm using it in a slim (desktop case) Dell GX240. The DVI output is great hooked up to my HD TV. No complaints.
Replacement for motherboard based graphics processing [Posted on 2008-04-29] This part was purchased to replace the integrated graphics controller on a packaged HP PC. The installation couldn't have been easier, I think if it could have, it would have jumped into the AGP socket on it's own, and just started up. Beautifully done installer. I have been around computing long enough to recall when it was nearly terrifying to do anything to an upgrade.
I wish I could say the same for the vendor, computer brain. This is a third party reseller, making them the fourth party? (or is that me) with many twists and turns in the hand-off from one company to another. Since they are all likely making money, I would suppose the actual net OEM price must have been about 2 bucks. I should shop around more. Lackluster performance, I was told the same shipping story several times, but in novelistic and twisted ways. The phone is answered on the third ring by a real person, although...hmmm! The part did show up in a new box, and in new condition, so it ends well.
No GPU fan - be careful of heat problems [Posted on 2008-04-30] Until this card failed on me due to heat issues, it was a good price for performance.
My interal case temperature (Not CPU temp.) reached 80 - 82 degrees Farenheit over several hours; I left the PC on, went to work and air conditioner was off. Upon returning home, I noticed some glitches I assumed to be WinXP related and rebooted. The reboot never initialized graphics to the screen. Swapping out this card with my old 5700LE resolved this issue.
In summary, this card is good but without a GPU fan, will fail sooner than cards with a GPU fan.
HELP! Does this works with Vista? [Posted on 2008-05-10] I bought this video card from Amazon 4 months ago. I have 1 Dell machine running XP and 1 HP machine running Vista.
I wanted to install this on the Vista machine- but it won't fit in the slot!!! Does this work on Vista? is it compatible only with certain mother boards?
