Works as advertised. I just plugged it in, hooked up my two flat screen monitors and everything worked perfectly!! Dual monitors is the way to go when you have more than one application running. This makes it easy to cut and paste between documents without having to cascade windows.
XFX PVT84JUDF3 GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 [Posted on 2008-04-19] Great video card, haven't had any problems with it. Its a little loud but not too loud.XFX PVT84JUDF3 GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Ready Video Card (Dual DVI/S-Video)
Disappointing on Older Video Games [Posted on 2008-05-22] One of my favorite all-time games is Quake3Arena. I get fewer FPS (frames/sec) with this card than my Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H Motherboard's built-in X1250 video gave me. My PC is a home-made AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4800+ with 2GB 800-MHz DDR2 RAM running WinXP Professional SP3. Another reason I bought this card was to improve my ability to edit MPEG2 video data which it does better than the built-in video. Overall, I'm disappointed with the card - expected it to improve video processing more than it did.
Good card, lousy instructions [Posted on 2008-07-26] So far, I like how this card runs. The fan is audible, but nowhere close to as loud as the small fan that sits on my desk in the summertime. It's a soft whirring in the background. The graphics are good and I have no issues with its performance.
This product is rated down because the manufacturer's installation instructions are extremely inadequate and also misleading. I am not terribly familiar with computers, and was relying on the manual to help me install the card. The directions were written so long ago, they do not account for Windows Vista or the existence of PCI-Express, and contain no images or diagrams to assist the novice user. The manual actually says that cards are either PCI or AGP, and PCI cards should be inserted into a White slot and NEVER into a black slot. PCI-E x16 cards, as it turn out, go into black slots.
In short, good model nVidia card, but XFX dropped the ball on this one.
