Not bad for the price [Posted on 2008-06-05] The only issue I have with this product is it will drop connection from time to time. However when it has a connection, its strong and performs really well.
My best test case was using it while playing World of Warcraft. My lag would be low, but at times I would have major lag where I was unable to do anything and I took a look at the Zonet monitor and it dropped the connection, but would then reconnect.
It's possible I have a defective unit. The reason I purchased this unit was due to other user reviews saying how much they liked it. I am not sure if they were gaming while using this product, but that's why I wanted to share my experience with everyone.
good...not excellent [Posted on 2008-07-03] ....I couldn't connected to my Linux computer..... :(
....On windows works fine. nothing extraordinary
Great for the price but conflicts with cordless phone frequency. [Posted on 2008-08-26] The ZEW2500P is a great deal considering it is significantly cheaper than the Linksys or Netgear varieties and works for the most part. However, it transmits at 2.4GHz which conflicts with my 2.4GHz cordless phone. When the phone rings or someone is using it, the wireless connection cuts out 90% of the time. It is possible to change the broadcast frequency of the Zonet adapter so it is not 2.4GHz, but when I do this, the signal strength usually drops significantly. When the phone is not in use, the signal strength is always 4 to 5 bars from across the house.
Also, the included RaLink Configuration software is not nearly as reliable as the default Windows Zero Configuration utility for wireless connections. The Zonet RaLink Configuration software crashes often and cannot be restarted unless the computer is restarted. It also does not automatically reconnect to the same network every time, and requires the encryption key to be re-entered after each restart. The Windows utility is much more reliable and automatically reconnects every time the computer is turned on. Overall, the Zonet adapter works well if used with the Windows wireless network utility.
Very effective and easy [Posted on 2008-09-03] Plug and plays, really easy to use and setup. Gets good signal and runs great. No problem yet, about to buy a second one. Definitely would recommend.
Simple and effective [Posted on 2008-10-25] I have a 4 year old desktop with no wireless card, just got a wireless router, and wanted to connect the two. This box is small and out of the way with no extra power cord. It was super simple to install; run a CD then plug in a USB cord, and it has worked great with good range-across a house and down a floor. No cons that I've seen.
