eMachines T5230 Desktop Computer  [Posted on 2007-09-19]
I have owned this computer for about a month now and I'm really pleased with it so far. It fired up right out of the box on the first try and has been running non-stop ever since.

I'm very happy with the overall performance of this system. The AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor is lightning quick and the built in NVIDIA video chipset performs much better than I had anticipated. The T5230 is a great system and a terrific deal for the price.

I'm not real impressed with Windows Vista but that is a software issue and has nothing to do with the computer itself. I'm going to install a new hard drive pre loaded with Windows XP Professional 64 bit this weekend. I have been using the XP 64 bit for almost 2 years and it is just rock solid.

The other reviewer has owned his for a month. He's happy now, as I was initially with my emachine, but they die faster than computers become outdated. Badmachine.

Disposable computer! [Posted on 2007-12-29]
Emachines makes computers with a KNOWN DEFECT--if an electrical surge damages your power supply it also tends to fry your MOTHERBOARD! So what should be minor damage will be the death of your computer. By the way a surge protector won't prevent this. And emachines knows all about this defect according to the repair man who I hired to fix mine. Emachines should be called CrapEmachines.

Painfully Slow [Posted on 2008-05-15]
We purchased an emachine with windows vista and it has been nothing but frustration. It takes over a minute to open any applications and then while typing you have stop and wait 10 or 15 seconds to let the machine catch up with you. When I spoke with an emachine rep. I was told the machine had too little ram to run vista. The initial low price of this machine is going to cost us more than had we went with a machine with a little higer price. Bottom line, you will not get your money's worth with an emachine.
